Manual Dexterity in Metals
This showcase highlights work completed in my Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design coursework. Using brass, copper, copper wire, and silver solder, I developed skills in sawing, piercing, forming, soldering, rivets and cold connections, married metals, hollow forms, box and hinge fabrication, and chain making.
These projects strengthened my manual dexterity, attention to detail, and precision while working in small, intricate spaces. The technical and artistic skills gained through metalsmithing closely relate to dentistry, where fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and craftsmanship are essential for providing high-quality patient care.
